Editor's take: Buying a 17-inch multimedia is the only way to fully appreciate the benefits of HD drives. January saw the industry moving toward Blu-ray, and with 70% of the titles we have to recommend it over HD-DVD. Try to max out with a 1920x1200 resolution if you can to take full advantage of 1080p and shoot for either Nvidia’s GeForce 8800 GTX or ATI’s Mobility Radeon X1800. You’ll need an Intel Core 2 Duo, and preferably one clocked above 2.0 GHz. Dell has developed a solid reputation with its XPS line, but HP has some excellent 17-inch Pavilions that are just as good. |
